Collaboration Creates Barn Owl Housing

EKPC supports one of the state's rarest bird species by providing new homes for Kentucky's Barn Owls.

Working in collaboration with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, the Kentucky Department of Parks and Inter-County Energy, EKPC coordinated the installation of three owl nest boxes atop utility poles at the Perryville Battlefield State Park.

EKPC biologist Josh Young said the project is similar to EKPC's bat box and falcon box projects, which also help encourage Kentucky's rare winged species. "We've already installed boxes for bats and falcons, and the owl project is another way to help preserve Kentucky's natural treasures," said Young.

At EKPC, we don't just talk about corporate responsibility… we're doing it.
