Why we continue to build new lines
To keep the lights on, it's vital that electric utilities continue upgrading the power grid. Think of the grid as a highway. If traffic gets too heavy, the system gets congested. People lose power if lines overload.

The primary way we prevent this is by building new lines to handle the traffic.

There are many reasons why an electric system can get overloaded. Urban areas have grown significantly. Homes are being built bigger than was the case years ago. Appliances and gadgets are becoming more numerous. All these things increase electric load.

So, sometimes we have to build new power lines, but we also try to minimize the impact of the project. If possible, EKPC seeks to upgrade existing lines or run new lines parallel to existing line corridors. We also strive to minimize the impact on the environment and local communities.
